How Do Atheists Scream During Wild and Passionate Sex?

Some people love to scream aloud during sex, especially if the shift-working neighbour behind the paper thin walls desperately needs to sleep. 

Some people like South Australian couple Jessica Angel and Colin Mackenzie are even ordered by law courts to keep the volume down on their sex acts.

• Do "screamers" belong to certain "types"? 
• Do shy people scream more or less? 
• Are religious people ashamed after they have "accidentally" screamed the name of their "Lord" in semi-lethal decibels? 

What about the atheists - how do they scream? 

Do fastidious and uncompromising atheists scream during passionate sex?

“Ah! Unfathomable void!”

“Ahhh! Bottomless pit! I’m coming”

Do they yell “Oh Darwin” if they haven’t come out of the ‘religious’ closet and can’t control the primal urge to deify?

Or do they satisfy the vocalizing urge with “Oh My ..Natural Selection. That was great!”

Not all religious people have hang-ups about sex. Saint Augustine, one of the most influential figures of Christianity, with lots and lots of experience of screaming lust, was honest in his prayers to God. 'Grant me chastity and continence, only not yet.”

Sex and Religion

Strange bed fellows - Sex and religion are more tightly knit than people would care to admit. 

This is easily discovered by the number of "Thou shalt not's" present in most religions, especially the monotheistic religions. 

The Tantra traditions in Hinduism and Buddhism are among the most liberal in integration of sex and the erotic principle in matters of spirit. Native "ethnic" religions and animistic religions have a similar leaning.


If we look at all of known and recorded human history, we see that peoples, cultures and religions are always a tight fit. When you bring in a religion from outside and ‘convert’ a people, the religion also adapts by adopting indigenous worldview, aspects of culture and facets of the collective experience of the people into it. Any religion, which totally disregards what the people are used to, usually doesn’t succeed as Akhenaton, the eighteenth dynasty pharaoh of ancient Egypt (1353 BC – 1336 BC) learnt.

Gods and Goddesses of Sex and Lust

The ancient religions are full of deities dedicated to lust and love.

• Ashtarte in Canaanite mythology, who is the goddess of sexual love fertility and warfare. 
• Bes in ancient Egypt was the god of sexual pleasure, music and dance. 
• Aphrodite in Greek mythology was the goddess of lust, love and beauty.
• Pothos is the Greek god of sexual longing, desire and yearning
• Himeros is the Greek god of sexual desire
• Qandisa in Moroccan mythology is a goddess of lust who first seduces men and then drives them insane
• Tu Er Shen is a Chinese god dedicated to the love and sexual attraction between gay men

Black Jesus and White Saints

A very curious custom can be seen in the fringe areas of Christianity where colours of the 'deities' have political significance. In many churches and cathedrals in South America and Africa, where white Europeans brought Christianity, Jesus is often black, but most of the saints were white.

Is this just an oversight or was there a covert message? “Well, you can satisfy your deifying urge by looking at a black Jesus, but don’t even think of ever becoming a Saint! Sainthood is reserved for whites only. You get the point? It is divine will that we, whites rule over you!”

Religion can have political, commercial and domination agendas, possibly more than any other sphere of human activity. Often religion gets corrupted and becomes a mechanism to satisfy ego trips rather than bring salvation, happiness and liberation to people as countless cults have shown to do.

Very often, especially within the Christian tradition, God is portrayed as a bearded male figure. 

With one notable exception, Islam, where idolatry of images is forbidden, many religions and religious art have often portrayed God, a chief deity or the supreme deity as an older bearded male among non-bearded male deities or female deities. I am not so sure if there are bearded female deities, though.

Why Should We Force Our Religious Views on Others?

A Christian bus driver in the UK refuses to drive a bus with an atheist slogan.

The advertisement "There’s probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life.” runs on 200 buses in London and 600 vehicles in England, Scotland and Wales in an advertising campaign. The atheist Professor Richard Dawkins and the British Humanist Association officially back this anti-God campaign.

Bus driver Ron Heather, from Southampton, Hampshire, UK walked out of his shift on Saturday in protest. His employer, the bus company, First Bus said in a statement: 

"As an organisation we don't endorse any of the products or sentiments advertised on our buses. The content of this advert has been approved by the Advertising Standards Agency and therefore it is capable of being posted on static sites or anywhere else."

Hanne Stinson, chief executive of the British Humanist Association, expressed: 

"I have difficulty understanding why people with particular religious beliefs find the expression of a different sort of beliefs to be offensive. "I can't understand why some people seem to have a different attitude when it comes to atheists."

Do States Define the Religions of its Citizens?

Is this ad inherently different from the message of organised religions? A building, a church, a temple, or a mosque is also a loud proclamation of the faith of believers. Buildings and religious congregations satisfy the needs of members, but without attacking other people faiths. Stating your viewpoint and professing your faith need not undermine or attack anyone else’s faith.

Most countries of the world are tolerant of different religions or religious views of inhabitants. States have however, often taken extreme positions of intolerance. For example, on February 27, 380 AD, the Byzantine emperor declared, "Catholic Christianity" the only legitimate imperial religion, ending state support for the traditional Roman religion and tolerance for others. 



Track Record of the Catholic Inquisition

The Catholic inquisition is seen as a very bloody and gruesome affair. 

30 external historians working together with Vatican authorities, however found that more women accused of witchcraft died in the Protestant countries than under the inquisition.

Outside Europe, the inquisition was a different story. The Goa inquisition, between 1560 and 1812, was designed to punish relapsed New Christians (Jews and Muslims). From the scant records not destroyed in 1812, it seems to have brought to trial 16 200 out of which 64 were burned and 57 executed.

The Inquisition Symposium, established in 2000 by the Pope, found that the Inquisition burned 59 women in Spain, 36 in Italy, and four in Portugal. At the same time in Europe, civil justice brought to trial 100,000 women and burned 50,000 of them. About 26,000 were condemned as witches in Germany.

Theocratic States in the World Today

Though in Norway, Finland and Sweden the Lutheran Church and the state are joined, currently only Islamic states are theocratic. Saudi Arabia requires all Saudi nationals to be Muslims. The state recognizes individuals’ rights of non-Muslims to worship in private. Israel is also a Jewish theocracy, with a population 76.1% Jewish, 16.2% Muslim, 2.1% Christian, and 1.6% Druze, with the remaining 3.9% of other religions. But, Israel allows freedom of religion by law even to Israeli citizens.

The first modern Islamic state, Pakistan was founded on 14^th August 1947. According to Section 295C of the Pakistan Penal Code you get the death penalty if you 

"by words . . . or visible representation . . . or by any imputation, innuendo, or insinuation, directly or indirectly, defile the name of the Holy Prophet Muhammad." 

You can be sent to ten years in jail for outraging the religious feelings of any group. As of mid-2002, only the testimony of a single Muslim is sufficient to prosecute a non-Muslim on blasphemy charges.

Religion of Ruler Defined by Law

There are only few countries where the religion of the ruler is defined by law. 

• Saudi Arabia requires all Saudi nationals to be Muslims. As a ruler of Saudi Arabia has to be a Saudi national, the ruler has to be a Muslim. 
• The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran with its Shi’a Islam of the Jaafari (Usuli) school of thought also has no choice about religion.

• The Emperor of Japan is currently the only ruler with the title of Emperor. In 1946, with pressure from US General MacArthur, he renounced his claim to being divine in human form (akitsumikami), but he did not renounce being a Aahitogami (a Kami or spirit being born in human form) or a descendant of Amaterasu (Sun Goddess in Shinto religion). 

The 44^th US president Barack Obama can convert to Islam, Hare Krishna, Bahái, or any other faith. But, one other very liberal Western democracy has a religious straightjacket for its ruler. The constitutional law prevents the monarch of UK from being a Catholic. As the head of the Anglican Church and as the “Defender of Faith”, the monarch cannot but be an Anglican Protestant officially. This could be a toughie for Prince Charles (with his holistic views and penchant for alternative 'treatments') when his time comes.

Where in the World are Women not Allowed!

Are there many places in the world today where women are not allowed to enter? 

Stories and Images of Taleban men enforcing their strictness on women are familiar to all. What about the EU in 2008?

Are there still Gentlemen's clubs in the UK, where women are not allowed, as members?

Yes, White's Club is an example of such a place. There are female dancers and other professionals there but no female members.

The Only Woman Who Has Been on Mount Athos, Greece

One place strictly banning women is Mount Athos, Greece. This ban on women extends also to females of animal species and dates back to a decree banning women entering the Eastern Orthodox monastic peninsula issued by the Byzantine Emperor Constantine Monomachos in 1060. Four Moldovan women trying to sneak into the EU recently tested this ban. News reports say that they were forgiven and not imprisoned. 

55 years ago, Times reported how Aliki Diplarakou, Miss Greece of 1929, had dressed up in men's clothes and smuggled herself into the monks' sanctuary on Mount Athos to see with her own eyes what a place without women would be like.

Professions Where Women Are Not Allowed

The priesthood in the Catholic Church is still off-limits for women. The Vatican teaches that women cannot be ordained and has barred further discussion of the issue.

Women are also not allowed to elect a Pope. There is no legal ban but the only people allowed to take part are Cardinals below the age of 80, and since Canon Law forbids women from being ordained as priest, there are no women Cardinals and thus no woman can elect a Pope.

Men’s football, that bastion of male machismo is officially off-limits for women too.  A Mexican woman footballer was banned from playing for a professional men's club according to a FIFA Football's world governing body ruling.

The US Armed Services does not allow women in full combat roles. There has been some attempts to relax this ban but they have not been successful. "Women in the infantry: Forget about it!" is still the current line in the US Armed Forces. The official website sums it up as:

“Women have served in the United States Army since 1775. They nursed the ill and wounded, laundered and mended clothing, and cooked for the troops in camp on campaign; services that did not exist among the uniformed personnel within the Army until the 20th Century.”

Women are not allowed to ride bicycles in the North Korean capital city of Pyonyang. According to the Hub of North Korea News Kim Jong Il saw a woman riding a bicycle wearing pants in 1996. Kim Jong Il then ordered:

“It looks horrible. Do not let women ride bicycles.”

In Malawi, women were not allowed by law to wear trousers from 1965 to 1994, under President Kamuzu Banda's rule.

In Saudi Arabia, the highest religious authorities have issued Fatwas (bans) against women working in 'mixed' environments e.g. shop checkouts. Many employers still defy this ban and the Saudi Labour Ministry has reinstated women fired from their jobs.

Women in Saudi Arabia are not supposed to drive motor vehicles. There is no law against this, but it is a social convention against Saudi women though Beduin women in the desert areas do drive around.
